The test according to ASTM G73-10 (2017) is used to investigate damage caused by repeated liquid drop impact on the component surface. The test stand is constructed according to this standard at ISAF and is suitable for a wide range of materials. It is suitable for testing wear mechanisms on rotors that are stressed by liquid drop impact, e.g. helicopter rotors, turbines or wind turbines. In addition, static components, such as facade elements that are subject to drop impact, can be tested. The test stand uses a high-pressure water jet to simulate the damage caused by drop impact, Figure 1. The parameters can be varied in a wide range and documented online.
