ASTM G65-16 – Friction wheel test
Friction wheel method ASTM G65-16
The ASTM G65-16 standardized test method allows a wide range of materials to be tested due to the various standardized modifications. In this test sand is brought into frictional contact with a rotating disc and sample. The specimen is pressed against the rubberized wheel with a defined normal force via a lever arm, Figure 1, which rotates at a specified speed. The modifications of the standard vary in contact force and wear distance. The mass flow of the sand can be precisely adjusted with a tolerance of ±5g/min and remains constant for the different test variants.
The samples are weighed before and after the test and the removal is specified in mm³.
