Pin-on-disk test
Pin-on-disk test bench
For the determination of adhesive wear in metal-to-metal contacts, ISAF operates a non-standardised test rig. A cylindrical sample is pressed against a rotating disc or ring with a defined load. The torque is measured continuously and thus the coefficient of friction ยต. As a further option it is possible to measure the sample heating. The test can be run either dry or lubricated. The test stand can be operated with different motor-gearbox variants. Friction speeds of 1 cm/min to 4 cm/min or 0.5 m/s to 20 m/s at surface pressures of up to 10 MPa (depending on the specimen geometry) can be realized.
