Beater wheel method
Beater wheel method
The impact wheel test method simulates the conditions under combined impact/impact and abrasive loading and allows a wide range of materials to be tested. Here, abrasive material is brought into contact with rotating impact bodies and a fixed anvil, Figure 1. Both the impact elements and the anvil can be tested as specimens. During the test it is possible to record the applied impact force by means of a load cell. The mass flow of the abrasive material can be precisely adjusted with a tolerance of ±5g/min and remains constant for the different test variants.
The samples are weighed before and after the test and the removal is given in mg or in mm3 if the material density is known. Various materials can be used as abrasive goods depending on the customer's requirements.
