Hydroabrasion test
Hydroabrasion test
Hydroabrasion is the term used to describe damage to component surfaces caused by fluid flow in which solids are carried along. The hydroabrasion test uses a high-pressure water jet into which solids are injected to simulate damage caused by liquids containing solids. The angle at which the water jet impinges on the material surface has a significant influence on the damage. At ISAF, a test rig is set up, Figure 1, which allows wear investigations at different angles of impact. In addition to the angle, the jet velocity can be adjusted over a wide range. The solid material can be selected according to customer requirements.
