The testing of technical knives is carried out in a test set-up in which the different types of knives are rotated through wear products adapted to the tribological stress. The consumables can be dry, moist or wet, are usually multimodal and consist of a wide variety of mineral and organic components. The achievable cutting speeds range up to 4 m/s. The tests are usually carried out on components or on samples taken from original components.
