Development of a novel alloy for the production of corrosion and abrasion resistant components in the HIP process with reduced friction coefficient

Abstract: The aim of the planned project is to develop a novel alloy that exhibits both high abrasion resistance and high corrosion resistance and is also easy to machine. Additionally, the friction factor shall be reduced by the alloying technique.
Conventional alloys are each designed for only one property. If both corrosion and abrasion resistance are required, this is always at the expense of one property or machinability. Extreme requirements, such as those encountered when processing highly filled plastics with extruder screws, can only be met with such materials under severe limitations. This problem is now to be solved with the new alloy.
